Removal and Replacement Process

Removal of Old Asphalt

The first step involves removing the existing asphalt. The old material is carefully broken up and then loaded onto trucks to be hauled away from the job site. During this process, care is taken to minimize damage to the surrounding landscape and to ensure all old material is completely removed for a clean base.

1

Preparing the Base

Once the old asphalt is removed, the next step is to prepare the base. This involves leveling and compacting the soil, and then laying a sub-base layer, usually made of gravel. This layer is highly crucial for drainage and to provide a stable foundation for the new asphalt being laid.

Laying New Asphalt

With the base refined and prepared, the new asphalt is then laid. Hot asphalt is poured onto the driveway area and spread evenly. Special paving machines are used to ensure the asphalt is smooth and properly compacted and your driveway or walkway is able to cure correctly.

Finishing Touches

The final step is the finishing touches. This includes compacting the edges of the driveway and creating a smooth transition to the street or garage. The new driveway then needs time to cure. It’s usually recommended to avoid heavy use for a few days to allow the asphalt to set properly.
